Experiences voice recorder
What move us from one place to another
This project was born with a particular goal: To Invite weimar visitors to go to turistic places in thüringen that as same as weimar are rich in cultural heritage, architecture and have interesting spots on the history of humanity.
Knowing that storytelling is a good resource to promote products and services and after trying to play a little bit with the power of an audio message and all emotions and intensions they can have, the EVR’s were produced and filled up with stories.
An EVR is a sound object that can record any sound, save it and then play it different times whenever its owner wishes. It is a light object that can be easily carried along the visit on a museum, while walking in the park or even while hiking on the mountains.
Every visitor left a different experience on them, some of the stories were just listened once because they were recorded for someone in particular, some of them still remain. Would you like to listen to them?
Technique
Objects of 7cm x 7,5cm x 7cm were created having a pyramidal form with two main functionalities: recording and playing messages. 3mm Carton was used as material of the devices, some thin cuts with espiral shapes were used so the sound can come into the device. a Garsent Recordable Voice Module was used as main chip, it contains a microphone, a little speaker and a battery supplier.
The EVR’s contain two main buttons, one that records the message and one that plays it. A question was also added on the devices as an ice breaker when people do not have a first idea ab out what to say or comment about.
Four EVR’s were placed on a desk with instructions about how to use them. In order to keep the art station a bit dynamic, some of them were replaced containing different questions and inviting people to talk about different things.
